• What is the price of HOMER Pro?

HOMER Pro pricing is based on license length (1 year or permanent) and which modules you want. There are also discounts for purchasing more than one license at a time and for verified academic users. See our HOMER Pro Pricing Explained page for complete information.TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Installation and System Requirements

HOMER Pro runs on the latest versions of all Windows Operating Systems that are currently supported by Microsoft (Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1).

HOMER will run on a Macintosh equipped with a virtual Windows environment with the above operating systems, but we do not provide support for that environment. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Why doesn't HOMER Pro run on Windows XP?

We recognize that many people are still using XP, even though Microsoft has discontinued support for it. HOMER uses a version of a Microsoft framework, .NET, that is not backwards compatible to XP. In order to get the support we needed to create the product, we had to make this decision. XP users are welcome to continue renewing HOMER 2. We will continue to allow these renewals as long as there are XP users who need it. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• How do I download and install the software?

• Do you offer discounts?

We currently offer two types of discounts, quantity and academic. Quantity discounts are available to all customers.

Academic discounts are available to current students, faculty, staff members, and researchers of academic institutions. To request an academic discount, please login and place an order at users.homerenergy.com, checking the box “Request Academic Discount.” Be sure to send the requested, current proof of academic affiliation to orders@homerenergy.com. You will receive an automated email when your discount has been approved, providing instructions on how to complete your purchase. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Will HOMER 2 (or HOMER Legacy) continue to work after I install HOMER Pro?

Yes. They are completely different products. Installing one will not impact the other. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Will HOMER Pro read my HOMER 2 files?

Yes, HOMER Pro can read HOMER 2 files, but not the reverse. Some HOMER 2 files will require certain HOMER Pro modules to be read properly. We recommend that you use the HOMER Pro Free Trial, which includes all modules, to test your files. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• What licensing options are available?

You can purchase node locked (i.e. single computer) licenses through our website, but there are other licensing options available. If you require floating or laboratory licenses, please fill out an Enterprise License Inquiry and our sales team will contact you regarding options. TOP OF PAGE ∧

How can an equipment manufacturer get their products into HOMER Pro?

Please contact our sales team to add your products into a future release of HOMER Pro. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Can I purchase a license(s) for someone else in my organization?

Yes, single, unactivated licenses can be transferred to another user.  TOP OF PAGE ∧

• What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, PayPal, bank transfer, or check.

To pay by PayPal, bank transfer, credit card by phone, or by check, please click on “Pay by another method” after you place your order at users.homerenergy.com. You will receive an automated email when your payment has been received, providing instructions on how to activate your software license. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• How do I print a receipt?

To print your receipt, please log in to your HOMER account at users.homerenergy.com. Under the History tab, click on Orders. Click on View Order, then click on View Payment. Click on the blue “Print receipt” button. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• I need an invoice in order to get purchasing approval. How do I request one?

You can generate your own invoice through our user website. Simply select the product(s) that you require, create an order, and then select the "Print Invoice/quote" button. You can either print to a physical printer or print to PDF and save the file. When you are ready to make a purchase, come back to the user website, select History->Orders, and your order will be waiting for you. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• How often is the product updated?

We plan to release updates at least 4 times a year. Bug fixes will be released as often as every two weeks, depending on the need. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Why did you create the modules? Isn’t the whole idea of HOMER to look at possibilities?

We created the modules in order to (1) keep the product affordable, especially as we expand its capabilities, and (2) make it accessible to as many people as possible. HOMER is a very complex product, but most of our users only need the core functionality. This way, only those people who need the more specialized features have to pay for and view them. • What if I’m not sure which modules I want?

The Free Trial lets you turn modules on and off, so that you can explore what the product is like with and without certain modules. And you can always add a module to your annual or permanent product, if you decide that you need it later. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Are there plans for a native Macintosh or Linux version?

There are no such plans. Although we get frequent requests for a native Macintosh version, and at one time we thought it would be possible, it does not make financial sense to create either of these versions. Although we can’t explicitly support or troubleshoot issues that may arise running HOMER Pro on Windows emulators, we have received much feedback from users who are happy with this approach. Our engineers recommend Boot Camp, but Parallels and VMware have also been used successfully. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Do you have a reseller in my country?

HOMER Energy, LLC, is the sole developer and distributor of the HOMER software. We do not currently have any authorized resellers. You can download and purchase the HOMER software at users.homerenergy.com. TOP OF PAGE ∧

• Do you offer reseller discounts?

Since we do not sell through resellers, we do not offer discounts to software resellers. We will however be offering a referral program starting in 2015. TOP OF PAGE ∧
